Scotland’s Highlands and islands for whisky
Glenmorangie House near Tain and Borodale House on the Isle of Raasay led the charge for high-end whisky-based hospitality. In 2021 The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant at the outrageously picturesque Glenturret distillery in Crieff opened to universal acclaim. Last summer the Roca brothers – Joan, Josep and Jordi – of three-Michelin-starred El Celler de Can Roca swapped Spain for Speyside to conjure up enchanted TimeSpirit dinners at The Macallan distillery. And reservations for this year’s Supper Series at Chivas Brothers’ elegant Linn House in Keith or for the Three Chimneys at Talisker residency in Carbost on the Isle of Skye are very hard to come by. Expectations are high for Ardbeg House, not only a poster child for the whisky renaissance but also the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of Islay’s malts. Slàinte mhath!
